New top model – Range Rover Sport SV: BMW V8 for brand relaunch

With the introduction of the new corporate identity, Land Rover is running the Range Rover series as its own brand. In line with this, a new top-of-the-range model is being presented in the form of the Range Rover Sport SV, which gets 635 hp from a 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo engine.

The engine comes from BMW and replaces the in-house 5.0-liter supercharged V8. The new mild hybrid petrol engine surpasses its predecessor by up to 60 hp, which also has an effect on the driving performance: 100 km/h is reached after 3.8 seconds, a maximum speed of 290 km/h is possible. In addition, consumption is to be reduced by 15 percent. Land Rover calls the standard consumption for the mild hybrid 12.5 liters per 100 kilometers. This reduces CO2 emissions to 282 grams per kilometer compared to the supercharged engine. In order to bring the high performance safely to the road, the Sport SV has a newly developed “6D Dynamics” chassis with hydraulically connected dampers that control pitching and rolling movements keep it in check. The body has been aerodynamically optimized and features newly profiled surfaces. The bonnet is made of carbon to reduce weight. For the first time, 23-inch carbon wheels are used as an option in a production model. The carbon-ceramic brake system from Brembo has exclusive SV calipers with eight pistons, which are available in different colors.Only for the select fewIn the first model year, the new Range Rover is or was only available to selected customers as an “Edition One” by invitation , in strictly limited quantities. This series is already sold out. Also in Austria there are some customers whose names are not published. As a world first, the model has paddle shifters with integrated lighting. The “Body and Soul” front seats are also unique. Coupled to a Meridan sound system, they not only generate hi-fi audio vibrations in the backrests, but also have a special wellness function that is supposed to have a calming effect on the heart rate on the basis of special soundtracks. In addition to the performance model, the Range Rover Sport also benefits from the vintage 2024 from numerous updates, such as a more powerful 160 kW electric motor in the plug-in hybrid drives with system outputs of 460 hp and 550 hp (electric WLTP range up to 124 kilometers) as well as the further developed infotainment.
