New twist in the GTA 6 hacking affair, it’s still lunar, but at least it’s over this time. The case is almost closed and the hacker has finally been punished… or almost.
It’s hard to have missed the event last year, in September 2022, when Rockstar was the victim of a massive cyberattack on its servers. A security breach allowed the Lapsus group to infiltrate and disclose a lot of information about the company, in particular on GTA 5 and especially on GTA 6. The latter was quickly distributed on the Internet. The hacker behind the attack was, however, quickly arrested, but several twists and turns shook the case. And this continues today.

This summer, we learned that the young man had hacked Rockstar’s servers and started blackmailing the company, a sad routine in this type of practice, from a hotel room, under the surveillance of the authorities. The young man had been placed there to be protected from a group of rival hackers. At his trial, the teenager was acquitted of most of the charges, with psychiatrists concluding that he was not fit to stand trial. However, this did not prevent the young man from making headlines again recently.
Some time ago, the young hacker was already starting to shout from the rooftops that the first thing he would do when he got out would be to start hacking again. After attacking Uber, Rockstar and even Revolut, a financial company, extracting very sensitive information and despite having avoided being tried for his crimes, the young man is still looking for trouble.
While the case is being closed once and for all, the judge in charge of the case has decided to place the hacker in a secure hospital. According to her and the psychiatrists who made an initial assessment, the teenager would be totally obsessed with hacking and would represent a serious danger to the public.
He will therefore be placed in a specialized hospital while other doctors can meet him and probably judge whether or not he is fit to live in society.
Rockstar’s next hit is going well, but we’ll have to wait
For its part, GTA 6 is doing well. Rockstar had been reassuring during the attack on its servers and had affirmed that nothing would be disrupted. Since then, GTA 6 has been presented to the world with a trailer that blew up the internet. Many records have already been broken, and everyone is eagerly awaiting what comes next. However, you will have to be patient since the game will not arrive before a good 2025 if all goes well. By then, he should certainly reveal himself more. Wait and see as they say.
