New Windows 11 File Explorer: screenshots have leaked, find out in detail!

Mentioned for many months now, the new File Explorer continues to reveal itself in images.

While we have just presented all the new features brought with the Moment 3 update, let’s find out now what awaits us with the future File Explorer.

Microsoft is giving its File Explorer a serious facelift

Last January, we discovered a first glimpse of the brand new File Explorer coming to Windows 11. Mentioned for some time by our colleagues from Windows Latest, it should land next fall, when the 23H2 update is released. If this new version of File Explorer is so awaited, it is in particular because it should bring its share of welcome changes. Sources even announce that it will be the most significant redesign since Windows 8.

More than aesthetics, this redesign should focus more on introducing new features. We can first notice a change in layout for the File Explorer toolbar, which will now be found below the address bar. The latter will have modernized controls, a new, more efficient search bar (it should be significantly faster) and a home button. As you can see in the image above, the side pane, in addition to displaying some information related to your files, will offer you a quick share option.

A new File Explorer designed to optimize your productivity

Finally, a few weeks ago, we shared with you a preview of the upcoming Gallery Mode in File Explorer. As announced by Microsoft, this will aim to facilitate access to your photo collection by displaying content similar to that presented to you in the Photos application.

Finally, note that Microsoft 365 will be directly integrated into File Explorer, which will allow you to find your 365 content directly in Windows 11.
