As you already know, New World’s Expertise is currently capped at 600 Equipment Score. With the announcement of the PTR and the expedition mutation, the scores increase a bit, now up to 625. Players who have been at 600 GS for some time can rejoice, as they can once again maximize their equipment and in a new way.
Dark shards, a new way to increase your Expertise
To increase your gear score, you will have no choice but to use dark shards which you can get in 3 different ways:
- Complete mutant expeditions.
- Craft an item with an Equipment Score of 600, if your expertise for that item is also 600.
- Open a gypsum cast, if your expertise for that item is also 600.
On the other hand, your score must be at least 600 scores so that you can take advantage of these small wonder stones.
Why increase the score level?
The reason for the Expertise and the score level was increased, it is because of the arrival of the mythical dungeons. The difficulty within them is increased, therefore, players must be able to fight against mutations and potentially achieve level 10 difficulty. Without this addition, players simply will not be able to move forward.
Moreover, the increase in GS will also allow some players to be more comfortable in the 66+ zones. Indeed, your power will be improved and you will be able to fight much more easily. And finally, this addition also makes it possible to prepare the new region which will undoubtedly be 66+ with potentially monsters that can go up to level 70 if we follow the logic of the developers concerning the distribution of zone levels. Therefore, this update could serve as a basis for the new region.
When will this change happen?
For the moment, no information has been given concerning the arrival of these new features on the live servers. Currently, it is only possible to try them on the PTR, but an outing may be possible for mid-January or the last week of January. Everything will depend on the feedback regarding the testing phase.
