It was in 2009 that Jennifer’s Body, a horror comedy starring the illustrious Megan Fox, was released at the cinema: many years later, it seems that its director wants at all costs to make a sequel. In any case, he is patiently waiting for the stars to align to begin his project!

International model and ultra-renowned American star, we no longer need to introduce Megan Fox, who was also the face of Michael Bay’s first Transformers. In the 2000s, she also appeared in Jennifer’s Body alongside Amanda Seyfried and even a still little-known Chris Pratt. The pitch? Jennifer (Mega Fox, therefore) is a particularly popular high school cheerleader, unlike her best friend Anita, who is shy and reserved: things really get out of hand when the first is the victim of a ritual, seeing herself then possessed by a merciless demon who pushes her to eviscerate, dismember and eat the high school students.
By playing with the codes of comedy, horror but also other more torrid ones, Jennifer’s Body is a film that has gained popularity over time when he was rather considered by the press as a naughty guy when he came out. In 2018, some magazines like Vox consider it as a “forgotten classic” while Bloody Disgusting calls it avant-garde ; for Comic Book Resources, it is downright a “cult” work.
In question, the feminist vision brought by the story – Jennifer attacks the boys after they sacrificed her during an incantation – which took on another dimension after the MeeToo movement, in the early 2010s. However, this is somewhat called into question by the screenwriter herself, Diablo Cody, who recently admitted that the film was primarily written to appeal to men who liked Mega Fox without expecting it to appeal to female audiences. No matter, today, Jennifer’s Body is “cult” and good for it.
A suite ? Maybe one day
This same Diablo Cody was interviewed by Bloody Disguting a few days ago: given the new growth of Jennifer’s Body in recent years, the media asked her if she wanted to possibly make a sequel. And for now, the screenwriter responded directly in the affirmative:
YES ! I want to make a sequel! I’m not done with Jennifer’s Body. I just need to find…well, I need a partner with people who believe in it as much as I do and right now, that hasn’t happened yet.
An undisguised flash of the headlights which could well succeed, his request being widely shared by the American and international press. It remains to be seen whether, if the film is made, Megan Fox would return to her role or not.
