The fashion is for the return (desired or not) of franchises which made the history of the small and/or big screen. In 2024 and in the years to come, several major film sagas are returning to theaters, and TV is not left out. A cult superhero series is getting a sequel.

A superhero gone too soon

The series that brings us together in this month of April 2024 was one of the most striking and influential of its generation. In 2006, NBC’s metahumans appeared on television and quickly gained unanimous support during a first season considered (almost) perfect. Heroes then becomes a social phenomenon which will finally lose its splendor from season 2. Indeed, she suffered the full brunt of the screenwriters’ strike which paralyzed Hollywood in 2007 and which greatly affected production. This is why the second season lasts 11 episodes and suffers from a “rushed” plot.

Seasons 3 and 4 try as best they can to redress the balance and rekindle the superheroic flame… in vain. Heroes finally ends in 2010 after the 77th and final episode, the end of the Redemption arc. Five years later, the saga is reborn from its ashes with the mini-series “Reborn” with 13 episodes. Faced with a lack of interest from spectators, NBC did not renew the show for a season 2. We are now in 2024 and against all expectations, the Heroes franchise is making waves again.

The return of Heroes

The good news comes to us from the site Deadline. According to our colleagues, original series creator Tim Kring is currently working on the Heroes sequel. Code name “Eclipse” (related to the famous eclipse of the first episode of season 1) sets its plot several years after the end of season 4 of Heroes and introduces new Evos who discover their powers about to change their destiny forever. The story will bring back familiar villains from the saga who will do anything to eliminate this new meta-human threat. But a new group of superheroes stands before them and is entrusted with the mission of saving the world.

The project is still in its infancy. Tim Kring is currently in the process of pitching the said project to potential producers in order to raise the necessary funds to make it a reality. Of course, no date or even release window has been communicated. A TV broadcast or on an SVOD service such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video was not mentioned by the main interested party.
