DC made a big mistake regarding the Justice League film which takes place in the first version of the DCU, and could repeat it again.
Superman Legacysoberly renamed Superman, is the first cornerstone which symbolizes the renewal of the DCU with James Gunn at the helm. However, from its launch, DC could repeat a mistake made in the first version of its universe: introducing the Justice League too early in the story.
Already towards a return of the Justice League?
Indeed, DC could introduce the Justice League from the Superman film. Several clues point towards this potential idea, such as the different filming locations, like Cincinnati, or a building could well mean that the famous superhero team would be present in this first feature film. Indeed, Al Gmuer, supervisor of the Super Friends series, built the Hall of Justice, headquarters of the Justice League, in the animated series, according to the “Union Central” monument in Cincinnati. This former train station, transformed into a museum, therefore appears in James Gunn’s Superman, which could mean the appearance of a new version of the Justice League. Knowing that characters like Hawkgirl, and Green Lantern are going to be introduced in the film, and that they were both part of the famous superhero league. If this happens, DC could once again make a mistake by rushing rather than taking its time establishing its universe.
A path already traced
To find out if the new Justice League will be introduced in James Gunn’s Superman film, we will have to wait until July 11, 2025, but fans can rest assured, the road to this new DCU is already partly mapped out. We already know that there will be a The Authority film, which features characters from the Wildstorm comic. It is a group of superheroes with “unorthodox” methods unlike their colleagues, which responds to a desire on the part of James Gunn to diversify his universe. The new Batman should be revealed in The Brave And The Bold, where Bruce Wayne would be accompanied by his son, Damian Wayne. Then, it is the swamp creature of the DC universe that we will discover in Swamp Thing, in the guise of Doctor Alen Holland. And finally, it is Supergirl who will have the right to her solo film entitled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. DC does indeed have a plan this time, which should reassure fans.
