Perhaps you were a fan of cartoons from the 90s: a blessed era for many where superheroes notably delivered their best television series, sometimes frankly cult. Among these, we can happily cite the one dedicated to the X-Men started in 1992, which ended five years later at the end of its fifth season… well, not really.
Because yes, the big news that has been talked about lately (although the project was actually announced in 2021), is that this animated series will be entitled to an official sequel called X-Men -97 and that it will arrive on March 20 on Disney Plus. We will even find some dubbing actors from the original series!
This real boon is notably led by Beau DeMayo, a well-known Marvel Studios showrunner who has already worked on Moon Knight, but also on the future Blade film. The problem is that he has just been fired… a week before the release of X-Men ’97, what’s more.
A mysterious departure
This sudden dismissal, revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, remains quite nebulous. Disney has not made an official statement while the main person concerned cracked a no less intriguing expression on X (formerly Twitter): “speech is silver, silence is gold.”

But why such a hasty departure? The theory that comes up most often is based on… an OnlyFans account, previously held by DeMayo himself. He posted “non-explicit” media there, therefore without nudity, but the account was nevertheless closed months ago. As it stands, it is difficult to really comment on the cause of this dismissal: DeMayo in any case deactivated his Instagram account immediately before writing the previously cited post on X, while re-sharing articles concerning his departure.
