Cult of the Lamb necessarily tells you something: this crazy but absolutely brilliant video game from Devolver Digital can already rely on a solid community… which did not hesitate to immediately invest in a brand new cultural project.
When worship spreads
Released in 2022, we can easily say that Cult of the Lamb is one of the greatest successes of its publisher Devolver Digital. This completely crazy roguelite designed by Massive Monster is anchored in a very particular universe: we play a lamb who has just escaped death and who, saved by a divinity, founds his own sect to recruit other lambs and decimate the “false prophets”. It’s bloody, full of dark humor and quite addictive.
A title frankly well received by the press – it received a nice 17/20 here – but also by the public, the community of fans today proving to be much more massive than one might think. Enough for it to influence the very latest update (a bit special, by the way)long fantasized before becoming reality.
In short, Cult of the Lamb is already a cult and Devolver Digital recently announced a collaboration with comics publisher Oni Press for a new comic strip called Cult of the Lamb: The First Versewritten by Alex Paknadel and drawn by Troy Little.
Masses of the faithful!
This completely new comic was presented recently, supported in particular by crowdfunding with a first goal of 9,150 euros… which was reached in just six minutes. Quickly done, well done, as they say: this craze has unsurprisingly continued to manifest itself subsequently since currently, 29 days before the end of the KickStarter, the amount raised for the project is 254,444 euros!
It must be said that beyond expanding the deliciously bizarre universe of Cult of the Lamb, the promise of offering physical goodies to participants (depending on their donation, as always) is enough to thrill the biggest fans. For example, there are more or less prestigious editions of the comic strip: if more than 666,666 dollars are raised, it is even sworn to “integrate sex” into the rewards reserved for donors… In short, if you want participate, it’s happening here !
