From the end of the Harry Potter saga in the cinema, Emma Watson was able to distinguish herself thanks to her role in The perks of Being a Wallflower. Released in 2012 in French cinemas, this adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s novel (directed by the author himself) still shines today for its casting and for the accuracy with which themes as serious as depression or family violence. In 2013 and 2015, the British actress then had opportunities with legendary directors thanks to her roles in The Bling Ring (by Sofia Coppola) and Noah (by Darren Aronofsky). From a huge success to a huge flop, there is only one step

Among the actors we saw growing up in Harry Potter, Emma Watson is certainly one of those we were able to see most often outside the wizarding universe. Indeed, Rupert Grint hasn’t really done much in the cinema apart from his recent role in Knock at the Cabinand Daniel Radcliffe preferred to redirect himself towards the stage of the theater even if we were still able to see him again on the big screen thanks to The Lady in Black, Horns Or Elusive 2. Based on this observation, it is therefore obvious that she also had more chances of starring in a few films that were a little less good than average.

It was therefore in 2017 that his career underwent a real emotional lift. Indeed, that year, Emma Watson had the chance to come back to the forefront thanks to her interpretation of Belle in the live-action adaptation of The beauty and the Beast. If the film was quite criticized by moviegoers, it still did extremely well with the public sinceit grossed no less than $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office. As such, it is the Emma Watson’s second biggest hit behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. While we thought she was at the top, she then appeared in another successful film… much less impressive.

Two months after the release of Beauty and the Beast, Emma Watson appeared in the casting of The Circle. Adapted from the novel by Dave Eggers, this film nevertheless promised to be interesting thanks to its synopsis and its main duo composed of the British actress and the masterful Tom Hanks. As a reminder, this science fiction film tells the story of Mae Holland, a secretary in a small company who will quickly join a large tech company. The young woman will then be asked to participate in experiments involving being constantly filmed, which will obviously raise ethical questions that appear to be interesting. Unfortunately, the film shone more for its casting than its execution, and The Circle ended its run grossing just $40.7 million at the box office, a remarkably low score.

Fortunately for the actress, this experience was not the last since we could find her two years later in The Daughters of Doctor Marchdirected by the woman we know today for her feature film Barbie (Greta Gerwig). Emma Watson subsequently announced that she wanted to slow down her acting career to concentrate on her other projects, notably as a businesswoman and political activist.. If you haven’t seen The Circle and you still plan to give it a chance, know that the film should arrive on the Amazon Prime Video platform in around ten days.
