Some actors and/or actresses give their heart and soul to their role. Charlize Theron, one of the most renowned actresses in Hollywood, is clearly of this caliber. Now aged 48, she testifies to the physical consequences of such professional commitment on her body.

A muscular career

Charlize Theron is not the type to take it easy. Her filmography reflects this actress who does not skimp on physical commitment to bring her characters to life. Between 2015 and 2024, she was in turn Imperator Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, Lorraine Broughton in Atomic Blonde, Andy / Andromache of Scythia in The Old Guard as well as Cipher in Fast and Furious 9 then Fast X. Charlize Theron has taken on the biggest action stars over the past decade, but she’s well aware that this self-sacrifice comes at a price.

Close to fifty, Charlize Theron knows that she no longer recovers as easily as before and that in general it is no longer as easy as at the start of her career. During an interview given to our colleagues on the site Allurethe actress of South African origin spoke on this subject:

What really annoys me is that when I do action movies now and I get injured, it takes a lot longer to heal than it did when I was twenty. More than my 25 year old face, I want my 25 year old body back so I can throw myself against a wall and it still doesn’t hurt tomorrow. Today, if I haven’t gone to the gym for three days and I start working out again, I can’t walk, I can’t sit on the toilet. -Charlize Theron

The Old Guard 2 for 2024

This state of affairs in no way prevents Charlize Theron from engaging in projects requiring real physical preparation. In 2024 the sequel to The Old Guard will be released. Soberly titled The Old Guard 2, this Netflix Original adapted from the comic of the same name and directed by Victoria Mahoney (second team on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) continues the fight of Andromache of Scythia four years after its first appearance on the SVOD service with 260 million subscribers subscribers. Then, next year, Charlize Theron will join Vin Diesel and the “family” in Fast XI. She will face Jason Momoa alongside one of the most impressive casts in Hollywood.
