For many, Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the greatest of the cinematic era (and probably rightly so): however, this innate talent is not always recognized by the upper echelons of Hollywood. Proof of “snobbery” on the part of the Oscar jury, pointed out by many people.

Leonardo DiCaprio is certainly one of the best actors of recent decades and even THE best for many: from Titanic to Inception via The Wolf of Wall Street, The Departed, Shutter Island, One Upon a Time in Hollywood and even Stop- me if you can, his filmography is simply sumptuous. And yet, despite extreme recognition from the public but also from many directors and actors/actresses, he has “only” one Oscar for Best Actor, for his role in The Revenant.
This victory thus lifts the so-called curse which affected the actor within the famous ceremony… well, more or less, because it turns out that DiCaprio was not even nominated for his performance in Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese’s latest work, for the 2024 Oscars. Instead, Bradley Cooper, Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti, Cillian Murphy and Jeffrey Wright were nominated, with Cilian Murphy (Oppenheimer) winning. What justifies Leonardo’s absence at the famous evening?
No time to waste
This was quickly noticed: Leonardo DiCaprio was simply not there during the 2024 Oscars ceremony, a fact approved by sources from the media “ET”. For some, the fact that he was not nominated at all could have pushed him to skip the evening, but the aforementioned site nevertheless affirms that the reason for his absence was quite different: he was simply on the set of his next film, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Licorice Pizza, Phantom Thread).
note that Killers of the Flower Moon earned ten nominations for the 2024 Academy Awards, but won none. However, Scorsese’s film is one of the most acclaimed of last year, notably with an average of 4/5 on Allociné and 89% on Metacritic.
