For several years now, Netflix subscribers have been able to enjoy Studio Ghibli films without limits. Japan’s most famous animation studio has become an almost permanent resident of the platform’s catalog, but this close collaboration almost came to an end. While the broadcasting rights acquired by Netflix were due to end soon, the streaming platform has decided to extend them, as announced on social networks.

This upcoming arrival had already been announced by Netflix at the end of March, and we wondered how this streaming release could occur so quickly after the theatrical release of the film. For the moment, no broadcast date has been communicated by the platform. That being said, this first announcement already demonstrates a certain confidence between Ghibli and Netflix while the streaming giant could well recover the exclusivity of this broadcast here. A big coup as The Boy and the Heron was a huge success when it was released in November last year. The feature film even received the Ocar for best animated film at the last ceremony. An exit which remains unclear, but which will therefore have to be monitored closely.
