Netflix intends to hit very hard in 2024 with this project entirely produced under Unreal Engine 5 which already promises to be breathtaking.

The craziest animation project of 2024

Netflix and the world of animation, a love affair that has lasted for many years now. The streaming platform does not hesitate to invest in projects led by major players, such as several Japanese studios like MAPPA, or its close collaboration with Ghibli. Animation is an area that shines on Netflix, both with Japanese anime and international productions. And precisely, this is the case of Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, a new series dedicated to the famous franchise which should arrive this year in the platform’s catalog.

More than the world of animation, it is also that of video games that this project must highlight even though it was entirely produced under Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games’ graphics engine. We had already been treated to a preview of the series with a brief teaser shared last December, this time Netflix reveals the first trailer. And it’s frankly promising.

a Gundam project more stunning than ever

It seems difficult to follow the Gundam universe for the uninitiated as the franchise created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hajime Yatate is so vast today. But rest assured, the Requiem for Vengeance project can be appreciated without necessarily knowing the entire saga. The series, made up of six episodes of thirty minutes each, must transport us to the front lines of the One Year War conflict, an event mentioned in the original 1979 series and which takes place in Europe.

The result of the collaboration between SUNRISE and SAFEHOUSE INC. studios, Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance is written by Gavin Hignight, who notably worked on several Marvel adaptations, as well as the Tekken: Bloodline series. The production was entrusted to Erasmus Brosdau, former Art Director at Crytek and for whom he worked on Crysis 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome. Two titles that amazed us when they were released. We can therefore expect to be further amazed by the technique of Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, which is due to be released next fall.
