At the start of the year, the Halo series returns to our screens with the broadcast of season 2 on Canal+ and Paramount+. An ambitious and promising adaptation of the story of Major John 117 and the Covenant invasion, the first season of the series disappointed many fans of the most famous video game license from the Xbox catalog. A small disappointment, which could still turn into a nice surprise with the recent broadcast of season 2, which is intended to be much more successful than the previous one according to actor Pablo Schreiber.

The season of redemption?
To say that the first season of the Halo series was not convincing would be an understatement, as season 1 was lambasted by early fans, particularly in the United States. Too far from the saga of Master Chief according to the community, the first season of Halo received harsh criticism from the public, even if the observation is intended to be much less catastrophic than what we can hear. On Rotten Tomatoes, season 1 received a Tomatometer 70% and a public score of 52% during its broadcast. It’s rather low when we see the averages of other programs on the aggregator.
On the other hand, season 2, which is presented as a sort of soft reboot, could well breathe new life into the television show. Also on Rotten Tomatoes, season 2 so far receives a Tomatometer of 94% and an audience score of 79%. It’s better then, even if you will have to wait until the end of the broadcast of this new season to be fully convinced. However, if we rely on the statements of Pablo Schreiber, or those of the new showrunner David Wiener, who describes himself as “a big fan of the games”we really want to believe it.
