We’ve seen a lot of Marvel series and God knows the MCU doesn’t always deliver good ones. However, one in particular would now be added to the list: Daredevil. Let’s explain.

Daredevil, one of the most popular Marvel series

So yes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a happy mess in which it is difficult to find your way, especially when you are new. Truth be told, since the gates of the multiverse were crossed, it’s all the more complex with a ton of alternative realities to take into account: the advantage is that it also makes it possible to justify the integration of certain Marvel projects into the MCU, even though they were not attached to it and that they weren’t even produced by Disney.

Take the case of the Daredevil series, for example: its three seasons were produced by Netflix in collaboration with Marvel and take Charlie Cox in the shoes of Matt Murdock, as well as Vincent D’Onofrio in that of the Kingpin. A particularly dark, truly violent urban epic, with convoluted choreography and slick photography: it is often considered among the best Marvel series ever made, period. And if it was originally supposed to be part of the MCU, this was ultimately not the case, belonging to its own universe (unfinished, therefore).

Only here, qhen Disney finally decided, the series stopped and the company brought back the character of Daredevil and the Kingpin into its MCU… but in somewhat watered-down versions. To the point that we suspected that these characters were not from the Netflix series, but from another alternative reality, that of Earth-616 from the MCU. Finally, a priori, it is only a theory which remains to be confirmed. And when we see what this producer has just said, there is reason to be even more lost.

Canon or not canon?

Producer at Marvel, Brad Winderbaum recently dropped a small number during an interview: the Daredevil series would be part of the MCU.

I can say that up until now we’ve been a little wary about what falls under the MCU’s “sacred timeline” and what doesn’t. It comes, frankly, from a period at the studio where we were like, “We need to stick to partner collaboration.” It was another part of the company that developed Netflix projects.

We were aware of what they were doing, they were aware of what we were doing, but there were still a lot of things to balance. But now that some time has passed, now that we see how well integrated the stories are, I think personally, as Brad Winderbaum, I would be confident in saying that Daredevil is part of the sacred timeline. “.

As a reminder, the “sacred timeline” designates all the realities of the multiverse after Kang designated them as fixed, following the multiversal war mentioned in the Loki series. Didn’t you understand anything? Just tell yourself that a priori, the Netflix Daredevil series is indeed part of the MCU, being officially linked to a parallel universe. Which would mean that this is also the case for Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and company.

Let us recall in passing that Daredevil will be back in the Echo series, which began broadcasting today on Disney Plus, and that he will be entitled to his own Disney Plus series, Daredevil Born Again. The latter would also have benefited from a reboot in order to have a darker and more violent tone: interesting…
