Coulrophobia, a gold mine for horror films

There coulrophobia, or irrational fear of clowns, has almost become a trend in recent years in the horror world. This popularity is due in part to John Wayne Gacyan American serial killer who used to dress up as a clown (not to kill his victims, but to entertain sick children at a Chicago hospital), but also by the famous Pennywise (Pennywise in original version) appearing in the novel That of Stephen King.

Many horror films have been inspired by this phobia since, such as Killer Clowns from elsewhere (1988), The House of a Thousand Deads (2003), Dark Clown (2012, Stitches in original version), 31 (2016), but also All Hallows’ Eve‘ (2013), which allowed the saga Terrify to see the light of day in 2016 thanks to the character of Art the Clown. Currently composed of two films, Terrify And Terrify 2this film series follows the macabre adventures of a bloodthirsty clown, and will be entitled to its sequel in 2024.

Art the Clown is back, and it’s going to bleed

And yes, you read correctly ! Art the Clown will come back again in Terrify 3, which has just announced its release date. The film will be released in theaters on October 25, 2024 in the United States, but here you will have to wait October 30, 2024 to see it, one day before Halloween. The choice of date is probably not a coincidence, even if the film’s poster suggests a festive spirit more in line with the end of year celebrations, as you can see below:

It remains to be seen what the evil clown is planning this time, since he will probably not be the only one to act if we rely on the end of Terrify 2where one of his former victims allowed him to come back to life for the umpteenth time in the saga of Damien Leone. If you ever want to refresh your memory, or if you simply missed the bloody clown, know that Terrify And Terrify 2 are both available on myCANALbut also on Prime Video if you opt for the channel’s 7-day trial period Insomnia.
