As we will soon celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, it is good to remember that one of the actors of the famous saga entered the Guinness Book in 2020 for an astonishing “success” .

Do we still need to present the Harry Potter saga, as it is so adored by fans all over the world? The film adaptations of JK Rowling’s novels were released for an entire decade, and therefore marked an entire generation. Indeed, between 2001 and 2011, spectators were able to discover eight films in cinemas illustrating the adventures of the bespectacled wizard accompanied by his friends. Needless to say, each release of a feature film in the saga was a real event, and that fans of this magical universe climbed on their flying broomsticks to rush into the cinemas. Many actors became known thanks to these adaptations, and more particularly the main trio composed of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. It is precisely the latter that we are going to talk about in this article.

There is an anecdote about Rupert Grint that is relatively unknown to the general public. In 2020, the actor saw his name entered in the Guinness Book of Records for a “performance” which no one would have really understood when the first films were released. Indeed, the actor became the one who reached one million subscribers on Instagram the fastest, in just four hours and one minute as our colleagues at Allociné recall, and this in November 2020. The introductory message was however simple: “Hi Instagram…I’m just 10 years late, but here I am. Grint is on the Gram! I’m here to introduce you to Wednesday G. Grint. Take care of yourself” we read. A few lines which quickly went around the world, since the actor managed to beat the figures of Jennifer Aniston and Sir David Attenborough in record time.

It’s not magic

Since then, Rupert Grint has obviously been beaten, the ultimate distinction having been won – in chronological order – by the South Korean singer Moon Tae-il, then by the actor Joseph Vijay, by Angelina Jolie, and finally by Kim TaeHyung (member of the group BTS, who became “millionaire” in about forty minutes). The magic was short-lived! Regarding the Harry Potter saga, you are probably aware that it will undergo a complete reboot as a television series. Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO are indeed preparing a brand new project whose stated ambition is to adapt JK Rowling’s books as faithfully as possible, each season telling the story of a volume. At the moment, we don’t know much more, except that Rowling will be the executive producer of the show.
