On January 10, the Academy of Video Game Arts and Techniques invited its members to proceed to the first round of votes for the Pegasus. This ceremony, which will take place for the third time this year, aims to reward French and foreign video games. Today, the Pegasus give us an appointment.
Born in 2020 following the creation of the Academy of Video Game Arts and Techniques, the Pegasus ceremony will be back in person this year for its 3rd edition. After a 2021 edition marked by the pandemic, the 2022 edition will take place at La Cigale (Paris) in a few weeks.
The Pegasus 2022 are revealed!
Indeed, the organization announces that the 3rd edition will take place on Thursday March 10 live and in public from 8 p.m. in the famous theater. If we will have to wait until January 28 to find out the list of three games named in the 19 categories by the 1,500 academicians, we are now aware of several details about the evening itself. First of all, the organization tells us that 1000 professionals will be present in the roomobviously provided that the health measures do not disrupt the program.
The ceremony will be presented by Salomé Lagresle, whom you can find every Wednesday on LeStream on the occasion of the JV L’Hebdo program. In particular, it will welcome on stage various personalities linked to the industry, be they developers, cultural managers, or even guests from the media, while revealing exclusive announcements, never-before-seen images and artistic performances. Currently, there are 85 games in contention, and only 57 will remain on January 28.
The second round, which will take place from February 3 to 25, 2022, will allow voters to choose the titles that will receive the precious statuette. However, it will take wait until March 10 to discover the winners. Among the different categories, there is the Best Video Game, the Best Independent Video Game, the Best Sound Universe, the Visual Excellence and the Narrative Excellence, but also two new categories : the Société Générale Pegasus for Best Accessibility, and the Micromania-Zing Public Pegasus.
The award for best accessibility will reward the video game that will stand out in its design, so that people who want to play it can do so regardless of their condition. And there will also be the public prize, where the general public will be asked to vote in two rounds to decide on the best game, which will be rewarded during the evening.
A few notable games were released this year: Deathloop from the Arkane studio, Solasta: Crown of the Magister (…). And the Pégases will also reward the best foreign video games in three categories, whether independent video games or mobile video games, said Julien Villedieu, president of the SNJV, at the microphone of Europe 1.
The return of the public on the occasion of this new edition will not prevent players and the curious from following the ceremony live. Co-produced by Webdia and the SNJV, this will be broadcast on Twitch, on LeStream, on JV of course, as well as on MGG TVthe television channel dedicated to eSports previously known as ES1, on the occasion of a special evening.
Remember that last year, Microsoft Flight Simulator won the Pégase for Best Video Game, ahead of Tell Me Why and WRC 9, while Ori and the Will of the Wisps won the statuette for best foreign game, and that Eric Chahi (Another World) received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot.
