This shield is really perfect for starting out as a Warrior, because it has excellent overall statistics and allows you to parry all the blows generated by opponents, while knocking them down with disconcerting ease.
Its effectiveness is such that the Protector of Heroes is the only shield capable of reflecting the petrifying ray of the gorgon Medusa.
Where to find the Protector of Heroes?
The “Protector of Heroes” shield is hidden in the Treasure Room in Vernworth Castle.
To enter this area of the castle, you will not need to wear noble attire or even less guard armor. Simply pass through the Ballroom Guardhouse to make your way to the Treasure Room.
However, a guard stands in front of the treasury door and does not let anyone in. You will have to be sneaky to steal the shield. To achieve this, all you have to do is fetch a barrel from the Kitchens, then throw it at the guard in the Treasure Room.
After the impact of the barrel, the guard will start running towards you; at this precise moment, grab him (RT or R2) then guide him to the top of the stairs. Once on the ground, take advantage of the guard’s brief absence to run towards the Treasure Room to enter illegally.
