Camps… What are they for in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Dragon’s Dogma II has a day and night system. Thus, approximately every 50 minutes, dusk will fall, giving way to complete night.

Traveling at night can have disadvantages as well as advantages. The main difficulties result in a very reduced field of vision, so much so that we cannot discern the elements around us and ambushes become much more dangerous. However, traveling at night can also be good, particularly for encountering very specific adversaries (wraiths, skeletons, undead, etc.), but also for identifying nocturnal resources such as golden beetles or even bioluminescent flowers.

Except that these outings under the stars are often our doing! The camps are there to help adventurers brave the difficulties of the night and recharge their batteries.

By setting up on a campfire, then setting up camping equipment, you will be able to get up at dawn (or dusk) with all your life points and modify your skills. But that’s not all, because the camp offers another feature that is very interesting: the preparation of small dishes.

By interacting with the pot placed on the fire, you can choose between the different pieces of red meat that you have in your inventory to grill it. By eating the dish you have made, your character and his pawns will be able to obtain numerous bonuses which will be useful for visiting a cave or confronting a significant opponent (a chimera for example).

What are the bonuses given to dishes eaten in a camp?

We told you just before, but having a bite to eat in a camp you have established brings statistical bonuses to your characters. After a good meal and a good night’s sleep, your characters will benefit from a temporary bonus when leaving the camp which modifies defense, strength or even mobility..

Before a fight against an elite monster or a cave that seems to be full of many opponents, eating at camp proves to be an excellent alternative to temporarily gain power.

The higher quality the meat, the more powerful the effects will be.. Here, the origin of the meat matters ; a net or a paving stone will not provide the same bonuses. But this difference is minimal when compared to the quality of the meat. The fresher your meat, the worse the bonuses will be. Wheras’meat that has matured over time will give you better bonuses. However, don’t wait until your meat is rotten, otherwise the effects will be poor. Here’s an example so you can get an idea of ​​the difference.

Where to find camping equipment?

Although it is possible to obtain camping equipment from merchants in towns, be aware that there is no point in purchasing it. You’ll get them for free by visiting caves or searching points of interest marked on your mini-map. There are many campfires with camping equipment at your disposal.

The quality of the camp doesn’t matter much. It does not provide any particular bonus, other than better durability in the event of an ambush. Indeed, quality equipment is less likely to be destroyed if you are attacked in the middle of the night.

To avoid ambushes, all you have to do is eliminate the opponents around you. Some goblins hide in the bushes, so before setting up camp, take a quick lookout to make sure no opponents are too close.
