The dragon plague is a real scourge in Dragon’s Dogma 2; it is contagious, can kill a significant number of characters and to top it off, disrupts the management of pawns in your team. But how is it caught? How to overcome it? In this DD2 article, we explain all the pitfalls of this disease, while showing you how to treat it.

Summary of all our guides on Dragon’s Dogma 2

The dragon plague… What are its effects in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

The dragon plague of Dragon’s Dogma II is a negative effect that can affect any pawn in your group. Pawns contract this disease by being contaminated by other pawns, by traveling through the rift or by eliminating a dragon. There is no preventive medicine to counter contamination with the dragon plague; on the other hand, there are signs that are unmistakable.

Indeed, although this illness is undetectable on your pawn’s profile, there are a few indicators that will allow you to realize that your pawn is sick:

  • Your pawn will complain of strange pains,
  • Your pawn will follow your orders less and less,
  • Your pawn will start to have eyes that glow a red color,

If you let the condition of your pawn worsen despite all these indicators, know that it will release a calamity: it will kill all the characters in the surrounding area like a cataclysm.

Your pawn will make no distinction; quest characters, background characters, passing pawns and merchants may die if they are near your pawn during its final phase of the dragon plague. And there, things will start to get complicated, because you will have to reanimate everyone with awakening stones, especially the quest characters.

Fortunately, the death of the Sphinx will allow you to obtain an awakening stone which will be able to reanimate a significant number of non-playable characters. However, you will have to ignore all the puzzle rewards or try to eliminate it at the end of all the tests when the creature leaves.

However, this method is not really the best one to undertake; there are a few tricks to get around the dragon plague.

Although there is no cure for the dragon plague, there are some tips to prevent a tragedy from happening:

  • At the first sign of the dragon plague, grab the contagious pawn, then throw it into water deep enough for it to be caught by the Kraken. He will die and come back completely cured of the dragon plague,
  • If the contagious pawn is your main pawn, wait for it to infect another pawn, then return the passing pawn for another,
  • If the contagious pawn is that of another insurgent, return it then take another pawn,

By taking the time to carefully monitor the behavior of your pawns, and then acting quickly, there is little chance of calamity breaking out during your adventure in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
