You don’t need to unlock it: it’s automatically available when you arrive in Vernworth.

  • The Forge of Gautstafr will be accessible once the quest line Source of comfort finished,

The Dragon Forge

This forge is accessible toDragonspawn : you will just have to follow the main story to have access to it.

  • It will only be accessible to you at the end of the game, so don’t go looking for it right away!

What are the different improvements offered by the forges in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

You will no doubt have understood, but the different forges in Dragon’s Dogma 2 do not bring the same improvements to your pieces of equipment. In order to improve your equipment correctly, find all the forge specializations below:

  • Vermund’s Forge : Moderately improves all attributes of equipment pieces,
  • Elven Forge : Greatly improves magic statistics (Attack and Defense) pieces of equipment,
  • Batthal Forge : Greatly improves physical statistics (Attack and Defense) pieces of equipment,
  • Dwarven Forge : Adds to weapons the possibility of doing stagger and of make the armor much more durable,
  • Dragonsmithing : Grants three additional upgrades to other forges and brings weight reduction of equipment parts,

So, to give you a few examples, Mages, Illusionists, Archer-Mages and Sorcerers will have every interest in improving their magic weapons at the Forge of the Sacred Sylve and their pieces of equipment at Battahl to obtain better survivability in combat. While Champions, Thieves, Knight-Mages or Warriors will have to rely more on the Dwarven Forge for weapons and mix equipment upgrades between the Elven Forge and the Battahl Forge to obtain better defense overall.
