In Elden Ring, the dungeon closest to the start of the game is not necessarily the easiest, far from it. This guide will help you navigate this dungeon, find the Favor of the World Tree talisman, summon Oleg, and defeat the fearsome boss that awaits you there.
Where to find the Tomb of the Borderlands Heroes?
The Tomb of the Borderlands Heroes is a dungeon accessible from the start of Elden Ring. However, you will need a first Stoneblade Key to enter. Despite everything (and even if you took a Stone Blade Key as a starting Gift) we advise you not to go there straight away, unless you are an experienced player.
To get there, teleport to the “Abandoned Graveyard” grace site and look for a white fog on your right. Insert the Stone Blade Key into the gargoyle to the left of the entrance to access the dungeon.
Once the fog clears, follow these steps to obtain the Favor of the World Tree talisman:
- Climb down the ladder into the poison swamp or jump straight in if you have something to heal later
- Continue walking down the hallway until you see and hear a cart
- Let the cart pass and follow it. Take shelter in the second recess (the one on the right preferably) when he returns
- After the cart passes, continue and drop down from the right recess, just before the cart turnaround area
- Ignore opponents including archer
- Continue down to the bridge and drop onto the left ledge at the start of the bridge. Be careful not to jump afterwards, otherwise you will end up in the void
- Enter the corridor behind you with the gargoyles
- Pass the flame trap (watch out for the gargoyle in the left hallway) and continue to a large room with a bridge in the center
- Cross the bridge. Two grafted offspring will fall from the ground to attack you. After defeating them, you will find the Favor of the World Tree talisman on a remains at the back of the room
After obtaining the talisman, follow these steps to access the boss room:
- Return to your drop point with the gargoyles
- On your left, you will see a sunken area where you can drop down
- Go down the slope quickly. Ignore the opponents and head down the slope
- The boss room will be on your right once down
The boss of the Tomb of the Borderlands Heroes is an Ulcer Tree Spirit. This is a very fast and impressive boss at first glance, but it is “simply” recommended to stay close to him in order to minimize damage, then stick to his hitbox constantly to minimize his chances of jumping on you, while beating him of course. On the other hand, when it starts to glow, move away quickly to avoid its sacred area attack. By defeating the spirit, you will obtain a Golden Seed and Oleg’s Summoning Ash.
