Relays in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: what are they for?

Already present in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the relay are back in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Given that the world of Hyrule is as vast as it is sparsely populated, the latter act as little outposts where to rest and regain energy in addition to some information on the region that we are about to discover.

The first thing you can do in a relay is store all your horses. In fact, by speaking with the relay manager from the exterior counter, you can choose tosave a mount and bring it out at any time. This is also how you can discover the statistics of your horses as well as change their appearance and their name. However, relays are not there simply to manage your horses.

Indeed, in the relays, you can also choose to rent a bed to rest and so get all your hearts back. Better yet, if you choose to pay a little more for a more comfortable bed, you might even benefit from a few extra yellow hearts. Furthermore, you may also receive a vision from the god of horses which should give you some useful clues for your exploration.

Relays are also a great way to learn a little more about the area around them. Indeed, it is here that you will be able to speak to a few NPC who will be able to inform you about what is happening in the surrounding area, or even give you side quests. Finally, you can also find a recipe different hanging on the wall of each of the relays in the game.

If you want to find the relays on your own, know that they are not the most difficult items to find. Indeed, the relays are always located near a road and are easily spotted from afar thanks to the shape of a giant horse’s head which forms the building, not to mention the smoke that escapes from it. To help you find them, however, you can refer to the map below:

Note also that if it is not possible to teleport directly in front of each relay, these buildings are systematically placed next to a Sanctuary. It is therefore thanks to these that you will be able to teleport near each relay in the game once you have unlocked them. To help you find them, here is the list of Sanctuaries associated with each relay:

As a reminder, please note that it is not obligatory to complete a Sanctuary to be able to teleport to its position. You simply need to activate it by interacting with it for the first time. Each time you pass a relay, do not hesitate to activate the Sanctuary to be able to return there more easily, even if you do not take the Sanctuary test directly. Finding all the relays will be extremely useful to you in particular for completing the secondary quest In search of truth!, given by Bourgette and Penn to the Gazette des bois.
