“Next Generation” – apprentices of the Vila Vita showed “fine palates”

The apprentices at Vila Vita Pannonia in Pamhagen didn’t get bored during the lockdown either. You dealt intensively with the subject of wine. The seven youngsters were involved with the cultivation of the vineyards as well as the harvest and vinification together with two winemakers.

Under the direction of the apprentice representative Robby Leitner and with the Apetlon winemaker Roland Steindorfer and under the supervision of Bert Jandl as a winemaker, the idea of the “apprentice workshop 2.0” was born.

The aim was to give the young people the chance to deal innovatively with the topic of wine and also to get an insight into viticulture. The boys and girls learned a lot from Roland Steindorfer about caring for the vines and harvesting.

A lot of knowledge about wine was conveyed partly via video conference. In March the fermented wines could finally be tasted. The young people were enthusiastic about the cuvée at the Steindorfer winery. The result is the first apprentice wine “Next Generation” 2020 with 60% Pinot Gris, 20% Chardonnay and 20% Welschriesling.
