Next train strike probably on Tuesday – in the middle of the summer holidays

Another warning strike could come to train passengers. The decision on this should be made on Thursday, as reported by trade union circles on Wednesday. “There is a board meeting tomorrow, in which new strike targets will be decided.” First, “Bild” reported on the meeting. According to their information, a warning strike is planned for next Tuesday.

A strike would fall in the middle of the summer holidays in the largest federal state. In North Rhine-Westphalia, this began last Monday.

EVG strike leader ‘ready to up the pressure’

Frank Hauenstein, strike leader from the EVG, said “Bild”: “We are ready to increase the pressure. The EVG Board of Directors will decide on possible measures at its meeting tomorrow.” Deutsche Bahn proposed arbitration to the EVG trade union. “This is intended to settle the collective bargaining conflict without further strikes during the holiday season,” the group said on Wednesday.

In the collective bargaining dispute with Deutsche Bahn, the union is letting its members decide on unlimited strikes in a ballot by the end of July. She had announced that warning strikes were possible during this time.

The EVG had already held a one-day warning strike on March 27 and April 21. Another strike in mid-May was stopped by a court. The union demands wages that are twelve percent higher, but at least an increase of 650 euros per month. The railway rejects this.
