eru./bko./agencies Tom Brady, the most successful NFL player in history, is retiring immediately. The US sports broadcaster ESPN reported that the National Football League confirmed Brady’s resignation late Saturday evening.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion was eliminated from the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Los Angeles Rams last week and initially left his future open.

The 44-year-old has played football in the NFL since 2000, initially for the New England Patriots until 2019, with whom he won the NFL championship six times. The quarterback then moved to Tampa, where he won his seventh Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Super Bowl five times. According to ESPN, Brady is making the move with his health in mind and in consultation with his family.

In December, when asked when he knew the time to retire, Brady replied: “I think I just have to look at each year and see how the situation looks for me, personally and professionally.” Now Brady has apparently come to the conclusion to end his outstanding career.
