Appenzeller Timo Meier experienced a successful game in the NHL in the last game before the Christmas break. Kevin Fiala remains without a point.
Timo Meier contributed 1 hit and 1 assist to the San Jose Sharks’ 5-2 win over the Minnesota Wild on Friday night. Shortly after the middle of the game, the 26-year-old Herisau wing scored the groundbreaking 3:1 with a superior number with a well-placed shot into the top corner of the goal. Before the second break, he provided an assist to make it 4-1 through Oskar Lindblom.
The victory ended the Sharks’ 3-game losing streak. For Meier it was the 18th goal in his 35th season appearance, his assist account is 16. In the last 7 games alone the striker was able to get 10 scorer points. With a total of 34 points, he is only just behind Kevin Fiala (35 points) in the fight for the honorary title of the best Swiss NHL scorer.
Fiala wins, but remains without a point
For his part, Fiala also won the penultimate game with the Los Angeles Kings before Christmas and beat the Calgary Flames 4-3 aet It is the club’s 4th win in a row, but Fiala remained without points in almost 20 minutes of ice time.
