The headmaster of the Lycée Masséna gave the alert on Tuesday morning after receiving a suspicious package from Russia.

Le Figaro Nice

The principal of the Masséna high school in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) took all his precautions. Tuesday morning, a little before 9 a.m., he received in his establishment located in the city center a suspicious package straight from Russia. He immediately gave the alert and evacuated all the buildings in agreement with the rectorate. The context of war and the sending of a package to a school created trouble.

Quickly, the 1680 students and 250 employees came out on the side of rue Désiré Niel. Avenue Félix Faure was closed to traffic and bus line 15 rerouted.

Demining

For its part, the national police intervened and requested the demining services, as required by the procedure. In reality, the deminers discovered that it was only a box filled with chocolates. The box measured 15x30cm, wrapped in tape.

After an hour, classes were therefore able to resume and the perimeter was reopened to the public and to traffic. A finding by the legal support group was made but no investigation was opened. The track of a simple recipient error is preferred.
