My daughters have never been on a red carpet with me in public, tonight was their first night.” The 56-year-old explained that her mother was missing, but she hoped she could watch the event via livestream. She also thought of her late father and was happy about “all my nieces and nephews.”
Reunion of the “Big Little Lies” star
Since 1973, the AFI Life Achievement Award has been presented by the American Film Institute to an “individual whose career in the film industry has contributed significantly to the enrichment of American culture,” according to the statement Organization website. Kidman had already been looking forward to being able to celebrate the evening with friends, family members and colleagues. This also included her “Big Little Lies” co-stars Reese Witherspoon (48) and Meryl Streep (74). The trio celebrated a reunion five years after the second season was broadcast. Streep presented Kidman with the lifetime achievement award, and Witherspoon gave a speech. Zac Efron (36), Naomi Watts (55) and Keith Urban also spoke in honor of the actress.
On her Instagram page Kidman said he was “deeply moved by all the support I’ve seen and heard around the world.” She thanked “for including me in this illustrious group of honorees – now let’s have fun!”.
