NieR Automata continues its journey and crosses the milestone of 7 million sales

More than ever the best commercial performance of PlatinumGames, NieR Automata had 6.5 million sales as of June 28, 2022. And with the reinforcement of a successful Switch port released on October 6, it was enough for the game to exceed the milestone of 7 million less than half a year later. Having felt the right vein for a while, Square Enix has ordered from the studio A-1 Pictures an adaptation in animated series which will be available in January 2023 under the name NieR Automata Ver1.1a.

For some reason, Square Enix has made a point of reporting every commercial milestone NieR Automata hits. Here is a summary of his progress:

  • March 10, 2017: PS4 release
  • March 17, 2017: PC release
  • April 5, 2017: 1 million
  • May 30, 2017: 1.5 million
  • September 21, 2017: 2 million
  • March 13, 2018: 2.5 million
  • June 7, 2018: 3 million
  • June 26, 2018: Xbox One release
  • December 5, 2018: 3.5 million
  • May 14, 2019: 4 million
  • March 30, 2020: 4.5 million
  • December 24, 2020: 5 million
  • February 22, 2021: 5.5 million
  • June 23, 2021: 6 million
  • June 28, 2022: 6.5 million
  • October 6, 2022: Switch release
  • November 25, 2022: 7 million

At the same time, Square Enix does not forget to give an update on NieR Replicant ver.1.22. A remaster that does not benefit from the same aura as the game worn by 2B, 9S and A2, because if the action-RPG had quickly reached one million copies, it has since only scratched half a million sales in 18 months:

  • April 23, 2021: PS4, Xbox One, PC release
  • June 23, 2021: 1 million
  • November 25, 2022: 1.5 million
