Nightdive is preparing remasters for Turok 3 and Star Wars Dark Forces

A little less famous than its big brothers, Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion nonetheless a nice FPS released on Nintendo 64 in 2000, not to be confused with the homonymous game released on Game Boy Color. Following the assassination of Turok 2’s protagonist, Joshua Fireseed, by the minions of the vile Oblivion, we follow his brother Joseph and sister Danielle in their quest for justice. It falls naturally to them to protect the universe.

Thanks to the new generation of their KEX engine, Nightdive promises to reach 120 FPS in 4K on all platforms where it is possible, with a nice brushstroke brought to the effects, models and textures. We will also be able to take advantage of the modern comforts provided by anti-aliasing, ambient occlusion and dynamic shadows. Trophies and achievements will be added. The Switch version will even include gyro aiming.

A nice package scheduled for November 14 on all current platforms – PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Switch. Nightdive thus completes their Turok cycle started in 2015. It was about time!

In a galaxy far, far farther away

Same price for Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster who will also be going through the KEX engine grinder to receive a list of near-identical upgrades. The 3D rendering will be more extensive than in the original – you can see the effects in the trailer below. In this DOOM-like released in 1995 on MS-DOS and Mac, then 1996 on PS1, we follow the mercenary Kyle Katarn, a dashing rebel who fights to thwart the plans of the Empire. The plot takes place approximately aroundA New Hope. Notably for the time, its dedicated engine, the Jedi Engine, allowed levels to be designed on multiple stacked floors, or to look from top to bottom.

This pure retro FPS will receive a release date before the end of the year according to Nightdive. However, we can already confirm that it will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Switch.
