Nintendo confirms two of four Xbox games going cross-platform

Nintendo took advantage of its Nintendo Direct to confirm the release of two Xbox Game Studio games on the Switch.

And one, and two! Nintendo announced the arrival of the game Grounded on Nintendo Switch on April 16, 2024 and Pentiment on February 22. These are the first two of four Microsoft games to go cross-platform.

An ideal game for the Nintendo Switch

Summary of previous episodes. After several days of rumors, Microsoft confirmed on February 15 that four of its Xbox Game Studios / Bethesda games launched exclusively for its Xbox consoles were going to be launched on PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch. But the firm refused to validate the names of the four games in question. Grounded was one of the favorites for such a move among the competition.

And for good reason, since its launch in early access in 2020, Obsidian’s little game has managed to find its audience on PC and Xbox consoles. This is a survival game based on the idea of “CHey I shrank the kids » by miniaturizing yourself in the garden of a house. By cooperating with a few other players, up to four, you will have to survive and return to your original size.

Smaller caliber game, launched more than a year ago on Xbox, with a service and online component that would need new players, Grounded ticks all the boxes for the ideal candidate to come and venture onto PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Pentement arrives tomorrow

Second surprise from the Nintendo Direct this Wednesday, February 21, the game Penment, also developed by Obsidian, will land on Nintendo Switch this Thursday, February 22. This is the 2nd of four Xbox games to lose its exclusive status. This time it’s a fully single-player game, but again its caliber as an indie game and its release in 2022, over 12 months ago, certainly pushed Microsoft to give it another chance at sales .

It remains to be discovered the identity of the two remaining Xbox games which will soon migrate to the competition. Nintendo having been well served, we can expect one of the next candidates to land on PlayStation. Among the favorites in the press, we find Hi-Fi Rush And Sea of Thieves.
