Nintendo: Sales update with 103.5 million Switch, and 13.9 million for Pokémon Diamond / Pearl

The financial reports for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2022/2023 continue, and after Sony and Microsoft, it is the turn of nintendo to draw up the balance sheet. And once again, the Japanese manufacturer can rub its hands on the sales of its Switchon the way to surpass those of the PS4, while the games stamped Pokemon are having a real tidal wave on sales and on the ranking of the best-selling titles on Switch.

The Switch well helped by Pokémon

First of all, we learn that the Switch has well exceeded 100 million sales with 103.54 million Switch sold worldwideor more than 10 million in a single quarter.

Suffice to say that many people were entitled to a Switch under the tree in 2021, and at this rate, the 116 million PS4 could be reached in just a few quarters. It has already overtaken the Wii and the PS1which were respectively at 101.63 million and 102.49 million according to Daniel AhmadFinancial Analyst.

Among these 103.54 million Switches sold, we find 17.87 million Switch Lite, while the Switch OLED starts off pretty well with 3.99 million units sold.

Nintendo also took stock of its sales, with the ranking of the 10 best-selling games on Switch (which are exclusive):

  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe : 43.35 million
  2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons : 37.62 million
  3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate : 27.4 million
  4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild : 25.8 million
  5. Pokemon Sword / Pokemon Shield : 23.9 million
  6. super mario odyssey : 23.02 million
  7. Super Mario Party : 17.39 million
  8. Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! : 14.33 million
  9. Pokémon Sparkling Diamond / Pokémon Sparkling Pearl : 13.97 million
  10. Ring Fit Adventure : 13.53 million

We therefore note the resounding entry of Pokémon Sparkling Diamond / Pokémon Sparkling Pearlwhich in just a few weeks managed to eject Splatoon 2 from the list and flow to almost 14 million units. It will be interesting to see how Pokemon Legends Arceus will turn all this upside down or not, but the remakes should at least exceed the opuses let’s go.

Nintendo also gives some of the titles that are not in the top 10, with first Luigi’s Mansion 3 and its very good 11.04 million games soldas well as Mario Party Superstars which sold to 5.43 million copies. The last Cerebral Academy only reaches the 1.28 million (which is still remarkable), while Metroid Dread sold to 2.74 million copies since its launch;
