Nintendo Switch Online: Much more content is coming for the paid subscription

The Nintendo Switch Online, this subscription costing between 19.99 and 69.99 euros per year is essential to play many games online on the hybrid console. Over time, the offer it offers evolves. New games are coming, and even a Plus version that gives you access to DLCs. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa returns to service.

An online service that has evolved

As you know, the Nintendo Switch Online offers several advantages such as be able to play NES or SNES games through available emulators. It’s an opportunity to test retro games with an online version for some of them, but that is not all since there are other advantages offered by the service. For example, players can Download Tetris 99 or Pacman 99 for free. Among other interesting offers, you can benefit from vouchers to buy two games for the modest sum of 99 euros with a discount of 500 gold points on Nintendo eShop.

More recently, Nintendo has set up an extension to create a new, much more interesting formula that allows you to benefit from a greater number of special offers by doubling the price of the subscription. Although at first the addition of this service was mixed, the fact that game DLCs are gradually being added to it, makes it much more interesting than just the addition of Mega Drive and N64 games.

The Nintendo Switch Online: the offer that will continue to evolve?

In the speech given by the President of Nintendo during a question-and-answer session with investors, the latter returns to the subject by speaking first of all of the number of subscribers to the service which gradually grows as sales of the console increase. As a reminder, in September 2021, there were 32 million and unfortunately, no new figures are given at this time. He also adds that of course, some users do not renew their subscriptions, but that it is important to continue to release software that allows players to continue enjoying online services and improves their overall experience. He ends up adding that they will continue to expand the services by creating new content for players who subscribe to the subscription during this year.

Among the things we can expect in 2022 are new games for the various services available, whether via the Expansion Pack with titles on Mega Drive or N64but also on those of the classic formula with NES and SNES games. We could also see the arrival of platforms expected by players such as Game Boy emulators, Game Boy Advance and why not that of GameCube though the latter is the least likely of the three to be released this year.

On the DLC side, this may be an opportunity for Nintendo to put new ones with Pokémon Sword and Shield Additional Content Pass or Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna The Golden Country who can totally join the service. To see what Nintendo prepares on this subject, but one thing is certain, it is that the Nintendo Switch Online continues to grow and deliver content that may be worthwhile for all console users in the long run.
