Back in 1993, in California. The lifeless body of a woman is found along a road of Gilroy, a town located 120 km south of San Francisco. Only remarkable element: the victim wears blue clothes. But she has no identity papers on her. At the time, investigators were unable to identify him or determine the causes of his death. She is therefore nicknamed “Blue Pacheco” and her death is classified as “undetermined”reports Paris Match.
Thirty after the macabre discovery, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office revealed, on April 18, the identity of this victim. Her name was Patricia Skiple and, according to the latest information from the investigation, she is one of the women killed by Keith Jesperson, the “Happy Face Killer” (the smiley killer, in French). This 45-year-old mother was from Colton, Oregon.
The smiley killer strangled his victims
Arrested in 1995, the smiley killer claimed to have “killed 160 people but only 8 murders were confirmed”relates Paris Match. He then explained thathe had killed his victims the same way he killed animals as a child : by strangulation.
In 2007, Keith Jesperson pleaded guilty to the murder of Patricia Skiple. He then said that he had sexually assaulted before the murder. The murders committed by the smiley face killer went unnoticed in the early 1990s, notes Paris Matchbecause they were essentially prostitutes. He caught the attention of the media and prosecutors by sending them letters on which he was always scribbling… a smiling smiley.
