As part of the roadmap presented by the Alliance, Nissan announces the imminent arrival of a new 100% electric city car. It will succeed the iconic Nissan Micra.
Nissan announces the launch of an all-new 100% electric vehicle in European markets. Manufactured in France at the Renault ElectriCity centre, this model will succeed the Micra city car as the entry car to the Nissan range.
This new electric city car is part of the Nissan Ambition 2030 plan and the roadmap unveiled by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, in which 35 electric vehicles are expected by 2030. Its design is carried out by Nissan, so that Renault is responsible for its design and manufacture on the Alliance’s CMF B-EV platform. This platform, common with the future electric R5 from the French manufacturer scheduled for 2023-2024, allows each brand to maintain a specific style for its products.
The name, the production schedule and the technical characteristics have not yet been revealed, but in view of the official photos, we can clearly distinguish the lines of the future model and its oval light signature at the front. “It’s a great example of the Alliance’s smart differentiation methodology. Succeeding our iconic Micra, I’m sure this new model will appeal even more to our customers in Europe.”said Ashwani Gupta, Nissan’s Chief Operating Officer.
The Alliance’s strategy provides for the use of up to 80% of the common platform between manufacturers in their overall production. The CMF B-EV platform will equip up to 250,000 vehicles per year and would be capable of offering up to 400 km of autonomy. Opposite, Stellantis has planned to launch its city cars on the STLA Small platform and the 500 km of autonomy are announced. We look forward to confronting these future models.
