Nissan: aluminum with low CO2 emissions


(CercleFinance.com) – Nissan has announced the use of low-CO2 aluminum parts made from green or recycled aluminum in its new and current models from the year 2024. The group thus wishes complete the transition to such coins by 2030.

Aluminum represents approximately 10% of vehicle weight. By using low-CO2 aluminum, Nissan aims to take a significant step towards carbon neutrality.

Nissan aims to achieve carbon neutrality across the entire life cycle of its vehicles by 2050.

Green aluminum is produced using electricity derived from non-fossil fuels and can reduce CO2 emissions during production by around 50%.

Recycled aluminum can reduce CO2 emissions by around 95%. Nissan purchased low-carbon aluminum sheets for vehicle panels produced in Japan from Kobe Steel and UACJ Corporation.

Nissan will use low-CO2 aluminum for all aluminum parts, including processed components, worldwide to further reduce CO2 emissions.
