The next model in Samsung’s Galaxy S line, the Galaxy S24, could feature the same front-facing camera as its predecessor, the S23. All models would be affected according to the report which reveals the information.
Samsung’s Galaxy S follow each other and are not alike. Or almost. Of course, every year the new model differs from the previous one, and the future flagship of the Korean brand is no exception. The Galaxy S24 will be faster than its predecessor for example. We also expect a bigger battery and faster charging on the Ultra model. On the photo side, however, not sure that the trend is for improvement.
A few months ago, a leak indicated that Samsung would like to remove a sensor from the back of the Galaxy S24 Ultra compared to the S23 Ultra, which has 4. Today, we learn that the selfie sensor of the S24 would have a definition of 12 megapixelsthe same as that of the S23. The 3 models of S24 would be concerned. If this information is confirmed, we should therefore not see significant improvements on the selfies of the S24.

Of course, the number of pixels is not everything. For equal quantity, one sensor can be better than another, because it is bigger and receives more light for example. However, the report explains that Samsung doesn’t want the front camera to take up more screen space. Difficult under these conditions to place a larger sensor there. Improvements could be done at the software level, working on image processing after taking the shot. It is however too early to know if the manufacturer has planned something at this level.

No way to say that the selfies of the S24 will be bad, quite the contrary. Those of the Galaxy S23 convinced us. In the worst case, the S24 will display identical quality, which is largely acceptable. We will not fail to let you know our impressions once the devices are in hand. The different Galaxy S24 models should be officially unveiled in early 2024.
