The friendly actor leaves his friends from La Bande à Fifi for Liar, a delirious comedy by Olivier Baroux in theaters since July 13.
Why Jérôme, the hero of Liar, does he confuse so much?
Tariq Boudali: To fill its gaps and weaknesses. He invents so many stories that no one believes him, except himself. He sometimes goes very far when he claims to have been abused by his parents. I liked this film for its moral, as well as for its fantastic dimension, when its lies become reality.
And you, what kind of liar are you?
At worst, I told a teacher that my bus hadn’t passed in order to avoid a punishment. But nothing more. Sometimes I hide the truth so as not to offend anyone, but I never lie. I hate this. My parents instilled in me respect for others. My loved ones appreciate me for my frankness and my honesty.
And for your humor too?
Perhaps, for them to say. Ever since I was little, I’ve hated seeing people sad, whether it’s my mother, my friends or a stranger. So I hasten to make them laugh, it’s stronger than me. My desire to be an actor probably comes from there. In sales BTS, I loved to entertain the gallery. I was doing animal imitations in front of an auditorium of 300 students. I had no inhibitions.
This is the first time that you have played such an important role in the cinema without La Bande à Fifi. Not too weird?
At the beginning if, I lacked benchmarks. But I adapted quickly. The film also allowed me to play my very first emotional scene, quite a challenge.
Liar was filmed in Nice. Want to go back for the holidays?
I loved the energy and the landscapes of this French Los Angeles. On the other hand, I rarely take vacations. In any case, not this summer! In July, I finish shooting Alibi.com 2, of Philippe Lacheau. And in August, I prepare my film 3 Days max, Following 30 days max. Shooting begins in September. I would still have to manage to free myself for four or five days off… It’s not won!
