AirTags are used to track your own baggage. There are now several reports of how lost suitcases have been found with the help of the small devices. However, there have also been problems when travelers noticed on departure that their luggage had not yet been loaded onto the aircraft.
The decision of the Federal Aviation Authority was preceded by a lengthy discussion, as “iphone-ticker.de” reports. For some time it was not clear whether the devices would be allowed or not. There was no clear ban. However, if the guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) were strictly observed, the AirTags should have been deactivated because of their transmission function.
