No more subscription needed: “The Mandalorian” and Co. will soon be available without Disney+

DISNEY+

For a long time, the “Star Wars” and Marvel series were exclusively available on the Disney+ streaming service. It will soon be over and you can bring “The Mandalorian” and Co. home.

  • Disney + in-house productions run exclusively on Disney’s streaming service – at least that’s how it was for a long time.
  • Series like “The Mandalorian” or “Loki” don’t end up with the competition, but it will soon be much easier to watch Marvel and “Star Wars” series without a Disney + subscription.

Disney+ is getting more expensive, at least if you want to continue watching films and series in the best quality. November 1, 2023 is the day, a little later for existing customers. An annoyance for many Disney fans, who are also upset about the announced account sharing measures.

There are now often threats of termination, but those who have remained loyal to the streaming service have probably done so out of interest in Disney + in-house productions such as “The Mandalorian”, “Loki” or “WandaVision”. Without a Disney+ subscription, these hit series are denied – at least for now!

Disney surprisingly announced that the aforementioned Marvel and “Star Wars” series will be released on Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray later this year – initially only in the USA. However, a release in Germany is not excluded, an official confirmation could follow here soon. A DVD release is not planned, by the way.

Season 1 of “Loki” will be released in the USA on September 26, 2023, in time for the start of “Loki” season 2 on October 6th. The first two seasons of “The Mandalorian” will follow on November 28, 2023 and “WandaVision” will be in stores on December 12, 2023. All series are offered in stylish steel books.

Disney+ series on Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray for the first time

So far it is not known if and when other series, such as “The Book of Boba Fett” or “Hawkeye”, will one day appear on Blu-Ray.

Presumably, this release is a test run to check interest in home theater versions of this type. Good news for collectors, no doubt, but Disney’s strategy is easy to see through.

Fans have long hoped for a physical release of the Disney + series, but Disney deliberately took its time. Two to four years have passed since the series mentioned started on Disney +, so if you wanted to see “The Mandalorian” and Co., you have undoubtedly already done so.

The Blu-Rays are therefore more of a further source of income for Disney, with which collectors in particular are addressed. So fans of “Star Wars” and Marvel can’t avoid a Disney+ subscription unless they’re blessed with the patience of a Jedi.
