Thursday 17 and Friday 18 November, The world devotes two days to the debates surrounding the organization of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar (November 20-December 18). Corruption, human rights, environment… Journalists, researchers and NGOs will answer your questions about the scandals surrounding the organization of the World Cup.
The first part of this day will be devoted to the debate on the advisability of boycotting the competition. Was such an initiative possible? Why haven’t governments and large NGOs committed to it? Lola Schulmann, advocacy officer at Amnesty International France, and Carole Gomez, sports geopolitics specialist, will answer your questions from 10 a.m.
This afternoon, back to the suspicions of corruption surrounding the awarding, in 2010, of the World Cup to Qatar, and more broadly the sports diplomacy of the emirate. The journalist from World Rémi Dupré will lead the chat from 4:15 p.m.
The rest of the program : Friday morning, we will devote a strong moment to the question of human rights, more particularly to the working conditions of the workers mobilized to prepare the World Cup, and, Friday afternoon, we will discuss the environmental damage and the carbon footprint of this World Cup world.
