“No problem”, “empty response”, “childhood trauma”: the results of the expertise of Dahbia B., suspect in the murder of Lola, have been revealed: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

On October 14, 2022, Lola, 12, is raped and killed in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, before being discovered in a suitcase. Investigators quickly got hold of a woman, Dahbia B., 26, who confessed to her crimes. Indicted for intentional homicide of a minor with acts of torture and barbarity, she was incarcerated in Fresnes then in the unit for difficult patients in Villejuif. During the investigation, the woman who was homeless was questioned by numerous psychologists. The objective is clear: find out if Dahbia B. was in full possession of her means at the time of her crime. And it seems that the indictment will indeed be presented before an Assize Court. Indeed, the conclusions of the second expertise of Dahbia B. revealed by our colleagues from Parisianon April 1, 2024, indicate that the indictment “did not suffer from an alienating psychiatric disorder at the time of the events”.

Dahbia B. “expresses no empathy” for the victim and her family

Conclusions which match those of the first expertise which was carried out in 2022. If she does not present an alienating psychiatric disorder, Dahbia B. lives with “a severe personality disorder”. However, it is not subject to “difficulties in understanding”, “no problems with logic and reasoning”, “no delusional experiences”, “no problems with judgment or reasoning”, “no depressive symptoms”. But then how does she explain the monstrosity of her act? “She pretends not to be able to express herself on the motivations which led her to take action” And “engages in short, hollow, meaningless answers. She is not able to account for her motivation, neither for the rape nor for the homicide.” indicate the experts, who specify that they were struck by the “coldness” by Dahbia B. when she recounts what she did to little Lola. “We do not note any emotional manifestation when the facts are mentioned. She spontaneously expresses no empathy, nor concern for the victim and his family. She is concerned about the legal consequences she faces.”

For psychiatrists, the indictment presents “high criminological danger”

In this report, the experts look back at the younger years of the suspect’s life. Dahbia B., who grew up in Algeria, reportedly spent her childhood with a violent father. She indicates that she was the victim of several rapes, especially from a neighbor and other men. Facts which allegedly took place when she was aged 12-13. The one who admitted to being a heavy cannabis user also recalled an event that deeply touched her: the death of his mother in 2021. Dramas that could have led her to take action? Psychiatrists highlight “the existence of a serious personality disorder, built on possible deficiencies and childhood trauma associated with impulsivity, intolerance to frustration, low empathy, consumption of psychoactive substances as well as transgressive behavior and great social precariousness. If she can be tried before the Assize Court for the murder of Lola, Dahbia B. constitutes a danger to herself and others. “The seriousness of the facts and the existence of a severe pathological personality are in favor of high criminological dangerousness“, conclude the experts.
