According to British assessments, Russian troops in Ukraine are suffering from a lack of time for recovery. On the anniversary of Russia’s partial mobilization, the British Ministry of Defense emphasized that the lack of rotation of combat units was one of the most important factors for low Russian morale.
In addition, this means that the Russian army cannot train its troops well. “The lack of such training most likely contributes to Russia’s difficulties in successfully conducting complex offensive operations,” it said in London. The ministry referred to statements by former General Andrei Kartapolov, chairman of the Defense Committee in the Russian Parliament.
Accordingly, mobilized soldiers are obliged to serve for the entire duration of the “special military operation,” as the war against Ukraine is called in Russia. In addition, Kartapolov said it was not possible to rotate personnel out of the combat area. This is a “renewed admission of the difficult situation at the front,” emphasized the British ministry.
