No, we will not be done with travel certificates on December 15th

Are you impatiently waiting for December 15 to finally get rid of your travel certificate? Think again, we will still have to wait a bit.

Thursday, December 10, during the intervention of Jean Castex, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin detailed the occasions during which the new travel certificate (Collection "December 15, 2020") will be necessary.

Travel between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. under surveillance

Indeed, if all trips that will take place between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. can be done freely and without certificate, the same does not apply to the nocturnal trips that will take place during the curfew *.

* The curfew is applicable throughout the national territory with the exception of overseas territories, travel is prohibited for all between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless otherwise specified.

From December 15th at 8 p.m., you can therefore travel between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. with a certificate only for the reasons listed below :

  • Professional reasons that is to say to move between his home to his place of work.

This concerns you if you work at night or if you work in a business that closes at 8 p.m. (for example), you can use this reason on your certificate to reach your home after the closure of your workplace.

This applies to you if you need to go to the hospital for urgent treatment or go to a pharmacy on duty to buy medicine.

  • Compelling family reasons

This concerns you if you have to pick up your children who are in joint custody or if you have to assist a vulnerable person.

  • In addition to this, you need to know more about it.People with disabilities and their companions
  • General interest missions

This applies to you if you are part of a food aid association or if you do marauding for example.

  • Pet needs

This applies to you if you have to take your pet outside your home.

Please note, on a printed certificate, you must only tick one box.

Sporting activities such as outdoor walks are excluded from these authorizations and therefore strictly prohibited from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. … they will have to be reserved for the day.

A new certificate available

The new certificate will be available from December 15 on the website of the Ministry of the Interior, as usual, you can print it or write it by hand on plain paper if you prefer. In this case, the government website states that "The exceptional travel certificate is for single use. It must therefore be completed using an indelible ink pen and must be renewed for each trip " . the certificate should not be written with an erasable pen but with a pen (you can, of course, choose the color!)

The risk if you drive without a certificate and you are checked remains the same: always a fine of 135 euros.

No curfew for Christmas night

As a reminder, the curfew will not be in effect on Christmas night (night of December 24 to 25) but gatherings must be made in accordance with health rules. We wake them up, which can last all night long (but that is obviously not an obligation).

From December 15th, travel between regions will be authorized… but if you have to go far, plan that you will have to stop in your journey at 8pm.
