Nokia: Launches next-gen Coherent Optics


(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia today announced the launch of its sixth-generation super-coherent photonics service engine, the PSE-6s, capable of reducing network energy consumption by 60%.

The PSE-6s can also deliver high-speed services, including 800 Gigabit Ethernet (GE), over distances of 2,000 km and more.

The PSE-6s will be showcased for the first time at MWC 2023 in Barcelona and again at OFC in San Diego next month.

James Watt, Vice President of Nokia Optical Networks, said: ‘The benefits of PSE-6s come with lower power consumption per bit, helping operators meet carbon reduction targets. increasingly ambitious.’

Optical networking equipment containing the new PSE-6s is expected to be available for testing on customer networks in the second half of 2023.

In addition, Nokia also announced today its partnership with Tele2 in Sweden. Together, they will offer private wireless services to local businesses.

Businesses will be able to leverage private 5G wireless to connect assets and unlock operational data to achieve cost, efficiency and sustainability goals.
