Nokia: offers the first sealed fiber access node in 25G PON

(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia today announced the availability of its 25G PON technology on the Lightspan SF-8M sealed fiber access node, providing ‘unrivaled capacity to meet growing bandwidth demand’ .

The sealed optical remote terminal (OLT) will support both GPON and XGS-PON standards simultaneously, allowing operators to quickly respond to growing bandwidth demands or competitive threats by simply enabling 10G or 25G speeds on their PON network.

According to Nokia, 25G PON also opens up immediate business opportunities, including true 10Gbps symmetrical enterprise services, mobile transport and network slicing/bulking.

‘PON networks can provide these services more cost-effectively than point-to-point Ethernet networks,’ says the Finnish firm.
