(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia announced today that it has successfully tested its Cloud RAN solution on A1 Group’s commercial 5G network in Bulgaria.
The trial, which took place in Sofia, saw companies successfully complete an end-to-end 5G data call (Layer 3 call) using Nokia’s Cloud RAN solution along with its AirFrame servers.
This trial demonstrated progress toward commercial viability of larger-scale Cloud RAN deployments. In the test, the Nokia Cloud RAN vDU (virtual distributed unit) served radio cells at a distance of more than 15 km.
In addition, Nokia assures that ‘operational efficiency has been increased thanks to the suite of cloud deployment automation tools’.
